Top Ten Camps in India

The joy of camping lies in simple pleasures of being utterly close to nature. For some it’s great to take a break from some of the comfort and luxury that is strangely inherent in the 21st Century. Camping is about adventure. It’s rustic and with all its lack of luxury, it’s quite thrilling. It does, in ways more than one, break all rules of consumerism. The camping scene has picked up in India and how. There is a fair amount of logistics involved, but the fact that everything is so portable, has encouraged organizers to make the best arrangements. Here is a shortlist of the Top Ten Camps in India.

1.Tsomoriri Camp: Located in Ladakh, Tsomoriri is the highest lake in the world. The beauty of this place lies in its seclusion. Wild and scarcely inhabited, this land is unexplored in the true sense. The lake gets completely frozen in the winters and camping besides the lake is one hell of an experience. The tents are snug and cozy and the arrangements for this camp are pretty stellar. However, the lake is only accessible in the months between May and September. The organizers make sure there is no room for complaints. There are medical facilities, proper bathrooms and excellent quality of food at Tsomoriri Camp.

2.Sarchu Camp: Due to its location on the Manali-Leh highway, Sarchu is pretty popular amongst tourists for an overnight stay and boy, is it worth it. It is about 222 kilometers from Manali. In fact, many treks of India enthusiasts initiate their Zanskar Valley experience from Sarchu itself. As far as facilities are concerned, they are top notch with little or no scope for discomfort. There’s constant electricity and good dining arrangements here in the camp at Sarchu. This is complemented by the much needed medical facilities, always available for tourists grappling with problems related to high altitudes. The ideal time to visit Sarchu is between April and September.

3.Kareri Lake Camp: Placed about nine kilometers from Dharamshala, Kareri Lake is a fresh water lake in Himachal Pradesh. The more exciting part about camping at Kareri is that to get here, you have to, need to put your hiking shoes on since the only way one can get to the lake is by trekking till there. The trek is lined by a bunch of dense trees and a flurry of flowers, which dilutes all the exhaustion. You must visit the camp between March and October to be able to experience the ideal weather. There’s also a requisite amount of best  Indian wildlife at Kareri to give you company.

4.Camp Mashoobra Greens: Located at a height of seven thousand feet, Mashoobra Greens has some gorgeous bamboo cottages where one can camp. The closest hill station is Shimla and the landscape is magnificent. There is just too much flora and fauna to give you company. There are picnics and lunches that can be set up for tourists in the huge spread of meadows and orchards. Visit the Mashoobra Greens between the summer months of March and June to escape all that nasty heat.

5.Riverwine Woods: Sited in Corbett National Park, River wine Woods was constructed in 2003. The incredible part about the River wine woods (earlier knows as Van Ghar River Lodge) is that these the mud cottages here are made up of locally sourced materials thereby creating employment opportunities for the locals here. There is the entire Corbett National Park to be explored once you’re here. Plan a visit between November and June.

6.Rishikesh Valley Camp: The Rishikesh Valley Camp is one of those complete de-stressing visits you can make away from the humdrum of city life. There’s an environment to touch base with your spiritual side. There’s an atmosphere which encourages you to contemplate and introspect. The restaurant at the Rishikesh Valley Camp serves complete organic food with the clear objective to bring the system of its guests, back on track. Famous for its rafting arrangements, there are also spas which will help you rejuvenate your senses. The best time to visit the hermit style huts is between July and September.

7.Chardham Camp: The ultimate place to camp while you are trekking to Kedarnath. The setting of the camp is straight out of a postcard. There are snow caped mountains surrounding the camp and the camp is nested in the middle of flower filled gardens. The rooms and tents are usually booked between Mid-May to November, which is in fact, the right time to visit Chardham.

8.SherBaghSawai: The SherBaghSawai in Madhopur is actually a luxury camp with ample scope for indulgence. It’s a wellness camp and runs with the clear aim of making you feel relaxed and calm and to get all that tension, hassle and worry out of your head. Abhyangam, which is a full body Ayurvedic massage helps to cure insomnia and also brings that striking glow to your skin. While at SherBaghSawai, you can also visit the Ranthambore National Park. The tents are sans any discomfort here and also have private verandahs. October to March completely qualifies as the best time to visit.

9.Osian Camp Resort: As a popular trading center, Osian is also home to some of the most ancient and beautiful temple architecture. The design of the camps also complements all the existing architecture in Osian. Located on the Osian-Jaisalmer highway, there are those typical jeep safaris that tourists can book in while travel to Rajasthan. The camels are waiting to be mounted and the traditional folk culture is waiting for an opportunity to boast of its vibrancy. The Swiss tents are completely worth the money. Book them anytime between October and March, once the scorching heat has withdrawn.

10.Rohet: Sitting pretty not very far from Rohetgarh, this is the place where William Dalrymple wrote his masterpiece, City of Djinns. The tents are furnished wonderfully with teakwood and have connected bathrooms. These bathrooms wipe off all that discomfort you would anticipate at a camp by providing running water at all times of the day. There are village safaris to be undertaken and some horse riding to be done. So reserve a spot in Rohet, anytime between October and March.

Employee Training Through Team Games

Corporate leads of today understand the need for training and grooming of their employees in order to keep them abreast with the latest technologies and norms of the fast paced industries that they are a part of. However, there is another training need that also needs to be given equal importance. This is the need for horning employees’ soft skills such as that of being a better team player, responsible leader, proactive employee and the like.

Periodic training and development of employees not only result in their individual betterment but also contribute towards the company’s overall better performance. Therefore, it is not an option but a need for corporate teams to invest time and money into training their employees.

The corporate offsite programs too have taken an unconventional route in the present days, where the rigid structured training programs are being replaced by more casual, entertaining and effective programs.  Interactive team games have taken centre stage in these training programs which requires employees’ enthusiastic participation and involvement.

Advantages of team games:

Fun and frolic: Team games always point in the direction of fun and entertainment. Boredom has no scope here, unlike in the case of lectures and seminars. Where the environment is friendly and fun, the participants are always enthused and stirred up to give their full attention to the training program.

Team building facilitators: Multiplayer games in any form, always bring the team members together since the goal of each player on the same team is the same and they focus their energy together on the same target, thereby involuntarily building their team spirit. And when the participants of these corporate team games are colleagues then the team spirit that is built while playing these games, is carried back to the work front and help in their performance at work.

Facilitate better understanding: Team games require participants to have a good understanding of each other’s skills, strengths and weaknesses. Teammates depend on each other in the course of the games and thereby get bonded with each other. Team games are a fun way of getting to know each other better and understanding each other well. This understanding ultimately reflects in their combined better performance at office.

Team games have come a long way from being mere entertainers at team parties to being aids for training and development of the employees.  More and more corporate event management companies are including team games as an agenda in their corporate outing packages

Treks in Ramnagar

Amongst the favorite adventure sports amongst adventure enthusiasts, not just in India, but the worlkd over, is trekking. Trekking involves walking long distances, exploring along the way through challenging, unfamiliar grounds. From simple walks through grasslands, plantations and fields, to exciting hike through a rugged path amidst magnificent forests and rocky hillocks the options for trekking are limitless. There are lots of interesting trails for trekking around Bangalore.

Preparation required for trekking: As no special training or equipments are required for trekking, the preparation for this activity is relatively simpler as compared to other adventure sports. However, depending on the duration of the trek the requirements vary.

Checking on the weather condition prior to starting the trek is vital in planning and preparation.

Weather Condition: The best conditions for trekking would be mild temperature, with no rain predicted. Extremes of temperature, humidity, heavy winds, downpour, stormy conditions, pose as hurdles in trekking.

Trekking at Ramnagar: Known as the land of seven hills, Ramanagaram is one of the favorite spots for trekking near Bangalore, and is situated 48 m away from the city. Ramdevara Betta region of this town was where the famous Bollywood movie, Sholay was filmed.  There are 4 hills linked together along with the Ramdevara betta. It is the main hill that is usually preferred since the others are too risky to climb. The average elevation of Ramnagar is 2450 feet making at a dream destination for mountaineers and trekkers.

Adventure at Ramnagar: Thanks to its natural rocky terrain, this place is popular for a host of adventure activities making it one of the frequented destinations for adventure sports in Bangalore.  Ramnagar has many rocky mountains made of lime and granite stones suitable for Rock climbing and bouldering activities. Other attractions here are rappelling, which is climbing down a high elevation while being harnessed on ropes and chimney-climbing, an extreme rock adventure sport where the participant is required to climb through the rocky crevices and between close lying rocks, while being harnessed to protective gear are the usual adventure sports that are enjoyed here by several adventure enthusiasts.

The high elevation, at which Ramanagaram is situated, at about 747 meters, makes it for an ideal destination for such sports. Trekking here is an adventure sport by itself, since it would involve climbing over rocks and hills. Usually, trekkers club trekking with the adventure sports mentioned above while on a trip to Ramanagaram.

Experience the thrill of making your way down a steep hill of height of 120ft, fly like a bird by ziplining from one hill to another. My Travel Experience with Thrillophilia – Bheemeshwari

It was probably about three months back when I decided I needed a break and decided to head for an adventure holiday along with a bunch of friends. I was not sure of where to head and what really to do, all I wanted was to just chill out for a couple of days far away from the maddening crowd, get some adrenaline rush and head back totally rejuvenated. It was then that one of my friends mentioned about this memorable adventure team outing that he had been to, about a year back, along with his office mates. His words of praise for the event managers made me too want to get in touch with them to make our little holiday a truly memorable one.

The moment I got in touch with Thrillophilia Adventure Tours and discussed with them on my holiday package, I knew I had an awesome trip to look forward to! They helped me decide on a place to suit my specifications. Bheemeshwari it was.

Finally the D-day arrived and we were picked up by the trainer from Thrillophilia, from the decided upon picking point and we headed to our destination. Adventure Bheemeshwari begins!  The two hours journey from Bangalore to Bheemeshwari was full of frolic and really pumped us all up for the adventures that lay ahead of us.

Upon reaching destination, we were guided into out resorts. Oh man! Was it enchanting?! Artistically built, bamboo lodges surrounded by sweet smelling plants with vibrantly colored flowers. We took a minute to admire these finer details before we checked in, freshened up and headed towards our first adventure activity of the day, white water rafting.

I was told Bheemeshwari is the best place in Karnataka for white water rafting. The shimmering sun peaking through the canopied trees over our heads, as we walked towards the starting point for the rafting activity. The banks of River Cauvery, which greeted us with glitters as if studded with a million diamonds was where our rafting expedition started.

Geared up in the rented rafting clothes, we bundled up into the raft, brimming with excitement and eagerness. The waterway took us through a splendid route between the lush green forests inhabited by lovely wildlife, doubling our rafting trip as a safari of sorts. The rushing water, bumping against rocks and boulder, jumping to create rapids, made our rafting trip super fun. Our screams of delights merged with the frequent cries of wildlife from the dense vegetation all around us.

Finally, by early afternoon, we headed back to our rooms to relax a bit. We had lunch and then headed straight back into the wilderness for a trek into the wild. Walking amidst nature at its best is truly a captivating experience. No words of appreciation can completely do justice to the charming beauty of the place.  Just as we were thinking our trip had been the best it can, our friendly tour guide asks to halt and briefs us about our next adventure team building activity. He actually made us feel like we grew wings, as we indulged jummarring right in the midst of the dense jungle! It was the most exhilarating experience in our lives and we enjoyed every bit of it.

Finally, as night fell, we made our way back to our rooms for a good night’s sleep. By early next morning, after a scrumptious breakfast at the resort, we headed back home hearts filled with satisfaction and beautiful memories, and minds refueled and recharged to go on with life again!
